After working with business leaders, TED speakers and people “at the top” for many years, I found it increasingly frustrating that true thought leadership work was still reserved for only a few. Why are we not taught communication in school? I founded New Thought Leaders for the many interesting people with great ideas out there to have an accessible way to experience what inspiring leadership and authentic communication skills can do for them.

New Thought Leaders

You know you want to be a leader who is recognised and respected on a bigger scale… but maybe you don’t yet realise that thought leadership is how you get there.
Your ability to articulate ideas in a way that makes people listen is a prerequisite to truly authentic leadership. It seems obvious, but that’s not the way it’s always been.

Maybe you’re not sure where to start because the way you’ve been programmed to perceive thought leadership, the way it’s been modelled to you, and the beliefs you have about who “qualifies” to be a thought leader are simply out of date.

Maybe you’re already a rising star in an organization or your own business, and while you have an ambitious vision and strong sense of purpose, you struggle to see your ideas as “worthy” of being heard — and that makes your confidence waver every time you’re in a room of decision makers.

Or maybe you already have considerable presentation experience but still don’t feel clear on how to articulate your ideas in a way that instantly builds belief and inspires action.

Wherever you are on your leadership journey, if you want to spark change every time you speak, you’re in the right place.

Today’s thought leaders don’t wait to be chosen

OLD WAYS DON’T WORK IN NEW TIMES

THE FUTURE IS NOW

In modern day business, everybody has the potential to be a thought leader. But so many don't identify as one because of “the way it's always been”.

It makes sense when you think about how most of us grew up and started our careers: in a hierarchical pyramid structure. There was someone at the top who was the leader. They had the voice, access to the microphone, and the audience. (Which typically meant they had all the power, too.) And those “lower down” in the hierarchy would wait to be chosen to rise up in their careers based predominantly on their skills. Only then would they deem it an appropriate position to share their own ideas and make more autonomous decisions.

Traditionally, a thought leader was seen as a rare breed who required hundreds, thousands, maybe even millions of listeners to make a meaningful mark on the world.

A NEW ERA OF LEADERSHIP

Because there were so few thought leaders, a message didn't require much nuance. There weren't a bunch of “mainstream” alternative points of view to choose from, which meant it was much easier for people en masse to go along with what was being said. And pre-internet and social media, thought leaders were limited in their choices for places to be heard.

The world, company structures and cultures, and the idea of what makes a great leader have significantly changed since then, but attitudes about thought leadership are still catching up.

That’s why New Thought Leaders exists.

MY SUPERPOWER IS
HELPING YOU CHANGE THE
WORLD
WITH YOURS

I’m Jessika Lynch, executive leadership strategist and high-impact communications specialist, and founder of New Thought Leaders. (See also: mom of two teenage boys, which certainly requires good leadership and communication skills!) Raised in New York, now living in Amsterdam.

I rose up the corporate ranks for years, all the while feeling like it was virtually impossible for me to influence others in a way that aligned with my values and strengths — and advance my career in a way that aligned with my deeper purpose.

This was partly down to the restrictive structures in place, but it was also because there was no proper “path” to show me what authentic leadership could look and feel like. So I ended up creating one.

Alongside my corporate job, I started working with TED as a speaker coach, helping turn hundreds of rough ideas into crisp, captivating, confident presentations. Soon after, I founded a TEDx event in Amsterdam which grew in visibility and popularity over the next decade.

After working with hundreds of clients during my 20+ year career, including C-level executives, politicians, TED speakers, and bestselling authors, I know that the greatest impact is made through thought leadership.

The problem? While everyone has impactful ideas inside them, they rarely know what to do with them. And it can be hard to let go of outdated theories of what thought leadership really is when a new path hasn’t clearly revealed itself yet.

That’s why people work with me.

WHILE EVERYONE HAS IMPACTFUL IDEAS INSIDE THEM, THEY RARELY KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP IS NOT OPTIONAL ANYMORE.
TODAY, IT'S ESSENTIAL FOR YOUR SUCCESS.

The concept of thought leadership isn’t new, but the kind of person who must step into thought leadership now is new — and it’s not optional anymore.

The truth is, as someone with bright ideas and an ambition to keep advancing in your corporate career or entrepreneurial venture, there’s a new expectation that’s been placed upon you (alongside many others I know you already carry).

That expectation is that you already are a thought leader. It doesn’t matter if you don’t feel like one or identify as one (yet), the expectation for someone with any level of leadership responsibility is that thought leadership becomes an essential part of their growth and development.

Many of my clients only start learning how to articulate their own ideas once they’re in a high position of leadership.

And therein lies your opportunity. When you get crystal clear on your unique points of view, the most effective ways to communicate them, and know how to make sure the right people pay attention, you will rise and reach your goals so much faster.

And you’ll spark real change in the way other people think and behave, create impact-rippling movements, and ultimately make the world a better, stronger, healthier, kinder, place.

In the era of new thought leadership, we rise up because of the thought leadership we have shown.

Still unsure of how this looks on you? Let’s plan a complimentary strategy call and design your next steps.
